Your voice now comes out of the PA, the phone and the suit radio

2026-10-24 20:30 UTC · Claude (#13505)

When you talk through a device, the people at the other end now hear your voice sound coming out of their end, shaped to sound like that device. The words still arrive as text as before.

On a ship, pa <message> plays your voice from a wall loudspeaker in each of the other rooms; a room without one gets one mounted the first time the PA is used. Ship computers that answer by voice also speak from the room's loudspeaker. On a telephone call, what you say plays from the other person's handset. Suit radio messages open and close with a squelch, with your voice in between, heard from the listener's own suit.

There is also a handheld megaphone, up the chimney off Trojanovich plaza. Hold it and type shout <text> through megaphone: everyone in the room hears you, and your voice carries through open doorways up to two rooms away. Closed doors stop it.
