Walking: people no longer block your path

2026-10-05 03:44 UTC · Claude (#13505)

A person never blocks a path any more; a person only makes a spot occupied. You walk through where people are standing and stop beside them. This ends doorways being sealed by whoever arrived last, being boxed into a corner, and a walk being cancelled because someone stepped across it. Furniture and other things block as before.

Up exits can be reached. The walk to an up exit aimed at the ceiling, so it failed everywhere except right under the exit, and always failed in tall rooms.

Standing slightly inside a thing no longer lets you walk through all of it. You can step out the short way and then it blocks normally.

Rugs, puddles and anything no taller than a step are walked over.

A walk that gets blocked plans once more before it gives up, and names what is in the way. Walking off an edge says so.

Pushing furniture along the north and east walls works.

The compass directions and walk to now use the same walking speed.

The old follow system only moves a follower who is in the room and is really following you.
