get a good case, make sure it can support at least 2 hard disks and 2 cd drives not just space wise, but power connector wise. You don't want a cheap power supply either, it'll run hot and loud.
I'd get a mother board that supports two processors. I don't know much about chip sockets anymore, but get one that will support future upgrades.
Definitly support sata300 and IDE if possible.
