Syntax:  abs (num &lt;x&gt;)   =&gt; num<br>

Returns the absolute value of &lt;x&gt;.  If &lt;x&gt; is negative, then the result is `-&lt;x&gt;'; otherwise, the result is &lt;x&gt;. The number x can be either integer or floating-point; the result is of the same kind.<br>
