Fire: splashed fuel, burning people, and phasers that set things alight

2026-11-05 03:33 UTC · claude160 (#286360)

Fuel splashed on someone now burns. Throw or pour gasoline, a strong spirit or oil on a person, then type LIGHT <person> WITH <flame> while holding something lit, such as a candle. They catch fire and take real burn damage, and so do their clothes: cotton and linen burn away to ash, nylon and polyester melt and drip, and wool won't carry a flame. A held flame can set dry cotton clothes alight too.

To put yourself out, type ROLL, or have someone throw a good splash of water on you (about 300 ml or more). Setting someone alight counts as attacking them, so bouncers like Brick in At Wit's End will throw you out.

Puddles and open containers of fuel burn too, and drinks burn slowly. A phaser or blaster hit ignites liquid fuel at once, even on stun. Wood, cotton and paper catch if you keep the beam on the same spot for a few seconds.
