Flying and landing: sublight engines, cruising, and shuttle bays

Ships now reach the speed you set and stop burning fuel once they are there. For some hours on 10 October a ship cruising at high speed on most headings kept its engines burning for the whole trip; if your tanks ran low then, that was why.
Changing speed or heading now takes the ship smoothly to the new course and settles exactly on it. Consoles show true acceleration and stopping distance. Negative speeds are refused at every console.
Small craft can now land in a larger ship's bay, and the crew can get out, walk round the craft, board again and launch. A craft that does not fit is turned away and stays free to fly; before, a refused landing left it stuck.
