Preserved the existing chunk placement record path

The existing placement-record verb has been restored to its original body. Recording sockets is handled by new command helpers, preserving the cost and behavior of legacy placement calls.
Root compared the original and fresh checkpoint source; the only difference in the restored verb is its editor modification footer. New socket helpers remain under final verification.
